A truly excellent site about these birds

Nest box sounds.

Here is my attempt to record the nestlings. The file is about 375kB, 8 bit mono about 20kHz, recorded at a range of less than 0.1 metre at 17.10 BST on 30th May 2000. The sample lasts about 17 seconds. You should hear a few seconds of garden noises, followed by an outburst of tweeting as the female arrives with caterpillar supper, followed by the repeating call of the largest and most outspoken nestling. The recording should loop and play indefinitely. Cacophony. If you've loaded this page, the .wav file should be loading automatically but it may take some time as it is large....If you have trouble with the auto load, click on the file tweet2000.wav directly.
